Our Resident Owned Community

Exeter River MH Cooperative, INC. is a resident owned community. In a resident owned community (ROC), homeowners form a not-for-profit business called a cooperative. Each household is a member of the cooperative, which owns the land and manages the business that is the community. Members own their own homes individually and an equal share of the land beneath the entire neighborhood. Our cooperative does not allow renting of homes; they must be owner occupied.

Every member has a say in the way a ROC is run and major decisions are made by democratic vote. In a ROC, you can volunteer for a position on the board of directors to help make improvements to the community. Members elect a board of directors. Committees that form, work independently and report their findings to the board for possible future actions. Committees are volunteers from our community. At the Exeter River MHP Cooperative there are several ways you can volunteer your time and make a difference in our community. Each committee has its own policy which can be viewed in the office.
